Kayathar Kattabomman's Monument has located 28 km away from NEC on the Madurai - Tirunelveli National Highway. Kattabomman, an early freedom fighter who battled against British Authority in India, was executed by the British here in 1799. The Tamil Nadu Government has erected a memorial here to honour the memories of this brave freedom warrior.
